How to get there

La Selva is a unique place that can only be reached on foot. An evocative walk among the paths suspended over the sea of Montepertuso or Positano will lead you to this oasis of peace.

A refuge surrounded by nature

La Selva can be reached only and exclusively on foot in 15 minutes of downhill path from Montepertuso (the hamlet above Positano) starting from the sports field and in 25 minutes from the s.s. 163 in Positano towards Amalfi, 50 meters after the junction “la sponda” on the left you will find a staircase marked Orpheus Foundation, follow the tiles with the green sapling symbol of La Selva.

To facilitate the transport of luggage, a cable car is available from Vallone Porto.

Routes and directions

On foot

From Montepertuso: Leaving from the Vittorio De Sica sports field in Montepertuso (hamlet above Positano), follow the small road that runs along it to the left, after the stairs again to the left and follow the path marked by the tiles with the green sapling, symbol of the Association. In about 15 minutes downhill, you will reach the Selva gate.
From Positano: On the S.S. 163 in the direction of Amalfi, 50 meters after the “La Sponda” junction on the left, you will find a staircase marked “Fondazione Orfeo” and a La Selva Association tile. Follow the uphill path marked with the tiles with the green sapling. The duration of the route is about 25 minutes uphill.

By car

From the FI-NA highway, follow the signs for Salerno Costiera Amalfitana and take the Castellammare di Stabia exit. Continue to Sorrento (avoid the signs for the Amalfi Coast toward Agerola).
Once past the town of Meta, follow the signs for Positano (12 km). At the beginning of Positano, turn left for Montepertuso (3 km). Park at the sports field (white stripes, non-resident) or after the village along the road being careful not to get in the way.
From Montepertuso to La Selva follow the “On Foot” signs.

By airplane

From Capodichino International Airport, take the Autolinee Curreri bus to Sorrento (Curreri Viaggi schedules).
From Sorrento, continue with the SITA bus Sorrento-Amalfi line (SITA timetables) and get off in Positano at the stop “La Sponda.”
From here, walk about 50 meters in the direction of Amalfi. On the left you will find the sign “La Selva Association.” The uphill trail takes about 25 minutes.

By train

From Naples Central Station, take the Circumvesuviana train to Sorrento (Circumvesuviana timetable).
From Sorrento train station, take the SITA bus (same as for arriving by plane) and get off at “La Sponda” stop in Positano.
From here, walk about 50 meters in the direction of Amalfi. On the left you will find the sign “La Selva Association.” The uphill trail takes about 25 minutes.

By Hydrofoil

From Naples Molo Beverello there is, during the summer season, a hydrofoil to Positano (ferry timetable) Once you arrive at the pier in Positano walk to La Sponda locality and then as per the directions “On foot.”
If you want you can take the bus from the “Mills” to Montepertuso-Nocelle, and when you get off at Montepertuso follow the ”On foot” signs.

Useful tips

Avoid arriving late in the evening: transportation connections can be difficult and the trail is not lit.
The maximum check-in time limit is 9 p.m.
If you have heavy suitcases you can contact (Positano Luggage Service) who will take your suitcases to our zip line.
