Food and produce

Our fruit and vegetables are cultivated according to the season without using any chemical products. Parasites and diseases are controlled if necessary only with products permitted by the regulations of biological agriculture.
In our gardens we grow a bit of everything, depending on the season. We have also created an ethnic garden where we grow cluster beans, palak bhaji, differ types of cucumbers, lady’s fingers and more.
In the 3 hectares of land around the farmhouse there are many types of trees, some. of them over 100 years old: lemon, orange, mandarins, grapefruit, carobs, mulberries, figs, almonds, walnuts, pomegranates, apricots and apples.
With our citrus fruits we make jams and we produce liqueurs, in particular limoncello, arancello (an orange version) and mandarinello, following traditional centuries old recipes from he Amalfi Coast.
In October every year we do the olive harvest by hand (lots of hard work!). We collect the olives that over 250 trees give to us and take them to the antique cold press in Sorrento, the last remaining press of its kind, where the olives are pressed into our extra virgin oil. Anybody is welcome to come and help us during the harvest.
All year round La Selva is vibrant with flowers and wild plants and herbs. We make liqueurs, teas and syrups from many of these including: myrtle, sambuca,strawberry tree, linden trees, borage, verbane, dandelion.
We also make oils for massage, hair and insect bites and oil perfumes with pure essential oils. Face cream for delicate skin with calendula and St Johns Wart, anti ageing cream with turmeric, rose hips, borage, lemons and more. We make totally natural cosmetics with plans picked at La Selva and enrIched with beeswax, shea butter, jojoba oil, sesame oil, almond oil, coconut oil, precious essential oils. All products are totally organic.
